In a welcome move, the Tampa Bay Bucs look to be hiring Alex Van Pelt as our QB coach per PFT and John Clayton...This means Olson will not be pulling double duty...It also gives Freeman and company a coach who played in the NFL.

Welcome aboard Alex.

Bio-
Alex Van Pelt was a star QB at University of Pittsburgh, when he was drafted in the 8th round by his hometown Steelers. He didnt make the team, but ended up getting picked up by Buffalo. Van Pelt was a career backup, however he got a few chances to start.

His claim to fame is his relationship with Dan Marino; Van Pelt broke Marino's passing records at Pitt, then he got his very first win, on Nov 2, 1997 OVER Marino's Dolphins...After the Bills traded for Bledsoe, he became expendable.

He has announced football games and coached Quarterbacks for the Frankfurt Galaxy before going to Buffalo as a quality control assistant. He moved up to QB coach, and eventually OC of Buffalo after they fired Turk Schonert. He turns 40 in May.
